Study Support

Study Support remains a high priority for the government.  Investment for reform, which outlined the DfES plans until 2006, identified building learning partnerships beyond the classroom as one of the four major priority areas.

Study Support as a notion began 10 years ago, built around making homework a more effective tool for learning.  It is now the strand linking innovations in teaching and the structure of schooling, with the new neuro-psychological insights into learning and the social contexts in which people learn best.  Study support is the arena which teachers, pupils, parents and others can work together to discover what learning could be like!

"Study Support is leaving activity outside normal lessons in which young people take part in voluntary activities. It is an inclusive term enhancing many activities. Its purpose is to improve young people's motivation, build their self-esteem and to help them become more effective learners. Above all it aims to raise achievement!"
