Interactive Whiteboard Expansion Project

 

Updated Interactive Whiteboard Network information   
A the BETT show 2004 Charles Clarke announced an additional £25 million for purchases of Interactive Whiteboards. 

 

South Gloucestershire have been given £172,000 of this funding to spend on providing interactive whiteboards to primary and secondary schools.  DfES guidance states that 60% of this funding must be targeted towards secondary schools and 40% towards primary schools.

A letter will be sent out to schools shortly detailing how your school can be involved.

The main aims of the initiative (taken from DfES guidance) are:
  • To increase the provision of whiteboards nationally
  • To ensure all LEAs have benefited from funding to provide whiteboards
  • Support the Primary and Secondary National Strategies in raising standards through improved learning and teaching
  • Encourage the development of a professional community, to develop, collate, share, improve and disseminate the best practice more widely
  • Ensure that schools are aware that they can use devolved formula capital budgets on ICT infrastructure (including whiteboards)

Schools wishing to benefit from the funding should ensure they read the relevant sections prior to completing the expression of interest form.

Interactive Whiteboard Network  

The Primary Strategy have launched an Interactive Whiteboard Network in which representatives from the LEA are being provided with training and resources and also working with other LEAs to develop and share resources.  All schools receiving whiteboards under the above initiative will be required to attend training sessions in order to benefit from the information disseminating from the Interactive Whiteboard Network.
