Leadership and Management

 

Subject Leadership>  Strategic Leadership in ICT Training (SLICT)

 

This is an intervention strategy designed to enhance the capacity of head teachers to act strategically in leading the development of ICT in their schools:

 

  • The programme will run to April 2006 and aims to include 40% of head teachers
  • Head teachers of 6 South Gloucestershire schools have already attended the training and feedback from these colleagues was extremely positive
  • Colleagues particularly valued the opportunity to visit schools in other authorities and share ideas with other head teachers
  • Two South Gloucestershire schools are host schools and are visited by head teachers from other LEAs who are delegates on the training
  • The programme provides an excellent opportunity for subsidised professional development for head teachers wishing to focus on embedding ICT within their school
  • SLICT has been extended to include a programme for senior managers in secondary schools where the head teacher has already attended the training
  • The South West Grid for Learning are one of the training providers for the SLICT programme

Strategic Leadership of ICT

Team SLICT

Structure

  • Attend a facilitated three day residential session including drawing up a development plan
  • Continue an on-line discussion for 10-12 weeks after the residential
  • Take part in a review day to look at the national agenda & further reflection and planning time
Programme includes:
  • On-line discussions
  • Self and school review materials
  • Two day face to face residential including school visit
  • Facilitated online engagement activities
  • Share approached to implementing ICT

 

Features

  • Participate in self and school review

  • Visit two well led schools where ICT is a feature

 

  • Examine perspective and understanding of ICT
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses within your school
  • Examine key issues and leadership implications
  • Participate in group discussions about different approaches to implementing ICT

 

Eligibility

  • Serving head teacher
  • Only available to secondary schools
  • Team application of 3-4 members of school
  • Head teacher must have completed SLICT or be enrolled
