Assessment of ICT Capability in the Primary School

The South Gloucestershire Teaching and Learning Team ran several workshops on developing assessment of ICT capability and all the supporting resources can be accessed below. Each workshop had a slightly different focus and could be done progressively.

Identifying a Starting Point
1. Developing Your Assessment Strategy focused on how to develop and implement a strategy to complete summative assessments as well as assessment for learning.
2. Developing Staff Confidence
3. Monitoring

Identifying a Starting Point

If you are unsure where to place your development focus in school we devised an Assessment Actions Checklist which should point to an appropriate starting point. This is in the form of a flow chart showing what strategic actions might be happening across the school and what individual teachers might be doing and how this is linked in.

The relevant section of the SEF linked ICT plan template will support self-evlauation of assessment procedures:

Use the checklist to identify your school focus and then access the relevant support materials and adapt them to your own school circumstances. The workshops will be repeated in Summer 07.

The Becta matrices on Assessment for Learning and ICT Assessment and Record Keeping can also support you to identify your starting point. Visit the matrix on http://matrix.becta.org.uk  and scroll down to the relevant matrix.
