Lesson and Curriculum Planning>  Transition Workshops

During the Spring term 2004 the Primary ICT Team and the Key Stage 3 ICT Consultant provided Transition Workshops to Year 6/7 teachers and/or subject leaders.

The transition workshops focus around a unit of learning on PowerPoint and Internet based research to be taught partly in Year 6 and then completed in Year 7 as an introduction to the first taught unit the Key Stage Strategy.  The intention is for a presentation developed in Year 6 to be taken on to Year 7 and used as a basis of future learning.

The team have developed a variety of supporting resources which can also be used to teach units 6A and 6D in year 6.  Schools may choose to link the work to presentations the pupils are creating linked to school camp or leavers services.

For each of these two units there is an overview of the unit, including suggested focus for the work and teaching points, a pupil self-assessment sheet and exemplifying examples taken from the ncaction web site.
