Gooday Mates
Karl the kangaroo here. I arrived in Australia yesterday. I
am in a part of Australia called New South Wales in a city called
Sydney. See if you can find Australia on a globe and a map.
Australia is right on the other side of the earth from England which
means it is winter here at the moment (August). It gets dark at
5.30 p.m. It is still quite warm at daytime but gets cold once it is
dark.
The city is built around a large harbour. In the pictures you can
see two of the most famous landmarks in Sydney. The white building
is Sydney Opera House. It is white because the roof is covered in
white tiles.

This bridge is the Sydney harbour bridge. You can climb to the top
of the bridge and see right across the harbour. You have to wear a
special harness to stop you falling and a suit with all your
equipment attached so that nothing is dropped that may cause an
accident.
Another bridge close by is the Pyremont bridge which is a suspension
bridge. You can see a picture of it here.
