The Target Setting Process
Individual Targets
Children to be grouped by common reading and
writing targets e.g. a group of children will be working
towards using full stops, they should be in the same writing
work.
- Children can be in different reading and writing groups
depending on their need.
- Groups should be identified through written work and
listening to read - in lower school children can be
grouped for reading by their reading stage.
These targets are to be addressed through
guided groups.
Targets can be taken from DFES target
statements (see yellow files) and /or groups own personal
needs.
Children MUST be aware of the target they
are working towards. Each group should have a target
card (see yellow file).
Each group should have a section in your
file and a photocopy of the statements for writing / reading
they are working on - IGNORE the year group and term!
When the group have hit that target highlight and date it.
NB: Please keep a record of the books
that group had read.
Please pass on the group information you
have kept to the next teacher at the end of the year.
Learning Challenges
This is really a learning outcome for each
unit of work. It should be linked to your planned
objectives and displayed for the 2 / 3 weeks.
