Following the highly successful Number Days held in 2000 and 2002, Count On are pleased to announce Number Day 2004, which will take place on Wednesday 1st December 2004.

Number Day is a Mathematical event run to raise funds for the NSPCC, the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and prevention of cruelty to children.  The event provides schools with the opportunity to celebrate Mathematics and to support the NSPCC's FULL STOP campaign, which aims to end cruelty to children.

All schools in England will receive a Number Day Pack, devised by classroom teachers and tested in schools.  In addition, the Count On website - www.counton.org will provide a range of engaging interactive games.  Schools can use these activities, which are tailored to meet the requirements of Key Stage 1 to 3, as the basis for fundraising events.  The pack is designed to be practical and flexible enough so that all activities are easy to organise and can take place during a Mathematics lesson, at an assembly or during a school morning or afternoon session.

Number Day will be launched with a "teaser card", which has been sent to all schools in June 2004, informing teachers of the event.  In September 2004, the Number Day pack will arrive at schools allowing teachers ample planning time.  The big event itself will take place throughout the week beginning Monday 29th November 2004, with Number Day - Wednesday 1st December 2004 as the main focus.

Number Day has already established itself as a successful and popular way of boosting awareness of Mathematics and raising funds for NSPCC.
