Q1:  What are the qualifications I would need to be a school Bursar?

A:  You will probably have experience and qualifications in management, administration and finance.

Q2:  What training opportunities would be available?

A:  You can study for a certificate or diploma of School Business Management which is funded by the National College of School Leadership www.ncsl.org.uk
This is specifically focused on school contexts. Networking opportunities are available in South Gloucestershire. Q3:  What pay structures exist?

A:  You would be graded onto the Hay pay scale and this would be locally managed by the employing school.

Q4:  Will I have access to regular discussions with my line manager about how well I am doing (Performance Review)?

A:  It is hoped that you would, although the length of the cycle will vary from school to school.

Q5:  How can I improve my basic skills in English, Mathematics and ICT?

A:  There are various ways of gaining a qualification in these skills for life areas. GCSEs and adult Numeracy, adult literacy and ICT qualifications are offered at local Further Education Colleges. Information is available from Filton College or Soundwell College
