Cover Supervisors

 

The first network session was attended by 11 cover supervisors from seven different schools in South Gloucestershire and chaired by Angela Feltham, Teaching and Learning Adviser, Support Staff.  It was a really good opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and feelings about the role.  It was very encouraging to be joined by some colleagues who are already in their second year in the role and enjoying it.  Some cover supervisors are already making future plans for career development.  One cover supervisor is planning to train as a teacher, another has started the Further Education Teaching Qualification.  As a result of this meeting we identified some 'Good Practice which we felt was worth sharing with other schools who may be considering this way forward.  With every new strategy employed it is valuable to consider some clear guidelines so that the new initiative is as successful as possible.  We have summarised these points and hope that they will be helpful to your thinking.
