Assessor Award
|
This is offered through Filton College (cost about £375) and
enables the student (i.e. me!) to be able to assess Level 2
candidates. I have regular meetings with my tutor (he comes to
me at school) and I have to provide evidence of my assessing in
4 different forms.
These are observation, witness statements, questioning and
written reports.
My finished portfolio of work will probably be only about 20
pages! Very small in comparison to the HLTA!
In order to take this course it has to be agreed by Angela (who
then pays the fees) and you have to have a minimum of two people
to assess.

CACHE 2 Certificate in Support Work
|
This can be taken by anyone who works or volunteers in schools.
Cost is £200 currently paid for by South Glos) From cleaners to
lollipop ladies and parent helpers to SMSA’s. It is assessed by
an in school assessor (me). Angela is the internal verifier who
observes a part of my work and ensures that the candidate’s
files are complete before sending them off to CACHE for external
verification.
The candidate has to complete 2 optional units that are relevant
to their work, and with over 40 units to choose from this is not
difficult. The units themselves are relatively easy.
In addition the candidates have to complete 2 mandatory units
that deal with how their role helps support children and their
learning environment. (I haven’t done this yet with my
candidates, but it doesn’t look too bad!)
Once assessed and collated into a file, Angela checks them over
and sends a sample to CACHE to externally verify.
It is a good stepping stone to CACHE level 3 and a good way to
‘reward’ those members of the school community that are vital
but often ignored. |
