As part of their 'All About Me' project the children could write a letter to their English Teacher at secondary school, to show the range of their writing skills.  Children could include information on what they enjoy, achievements they are proud of or areas of literacy they could like to improve.  As part of this children could write a book review or talk about their favourite authors.

The book reviews or letters could then be displayed in the Year 7 classroom when the children arrive.  The book reviews would be a good topic for discussion in the first few weeks of term.
