Children receive sheets about the MUSICAL BRAIN.  They listen to a piece of music - 'Also sprach Zarathustra' by STRAUSS and draw what they imagine.

Using graphic score and specific notation, children design own score in relation to sounds they hear.

These scores are then taken with them to their secondary school. During term 1 in Year 7, children in music lessons, use these graphic scores to design their own compositions.  As all Y7 children will have used same symbols to notate their music in Y6, there will be a common 'language' for the children to work with.

Graphic scores can be displayed at the Secondary School in the music department.
