Transition & Transfer

Pastoral / Self-Esteem Resources> Mixing Pupils

A major concern for many Year 6's about transition is the making
of new friends. A possible solution to help children form
new friendships would be as follows:
In primary cluster groups, during the summer term, children from
different primary schools could meet and work on joint projects
eg DT - junk fashion show, drama workshops.
It is not important whether the children are working with people
they will be going to the same secondary school with; it is the
process of meeting new children and making new friendships. If
the children gain confidence, knowing they are able to form
friendships and work with different children, hopefully they
will transfer this skill when they arrive at secondary school. |
