Becta have developed a range of
materials to support schools with all stages of the inspection
process, including before and after an Ofsted
inspection.
Becta have also completed a review of ICT called The Becta
Review 2005 Evidence on the progress of ICT in Education,

This review provides benchmark information which can be
used by schools to monitor their own progress against national
indicators.

Latest OFSTED Subject Report for
ICT - February 2004

Here are the headline findings from
the latest OFSTED report for ICT:
- In 6 schools in 10 there has been significant
improvement in ICT since the previous inspection
- Pupils' achievement has continued to improve
- Teachers' skills, knowledge and understanding, and
planning have improved greatly
- The quality and use of ongoing assessment are
unsatisfactory in almost 1 school in 5
- Leadership and management continue to improve
- Most schools make timetabled provision for ICT but many
continue to find the application of ICT within other
subjects difficult
- Pupils continue to respond positively to ICT showing
high levels of interest and concentration
- Potential of support staff is neglected in some school

Ofsted produced a report in 2004 called 'ICT in Schools - The
Impact of Government Initiatives five years on'. The
report provides an evaluation of government initiatives linked
to ICT infrastructure (including broadband) and training.
