Strategic Leadership of ICT (SLICT)
|
We would like to commend and thank the large number of South
Gloucestershire head teachers who have already attended this
highly effective programme run by NCSL. The numbers of
participants to date are:
- 41 primary head teachers (43%)
- 3 secondary head teachers (20%)
- 44 head teachers in total (39%)
|
The SLICT programme is set to continue through 2006/7 and the
cost is still subsidised. Primary and Secondary SLICT now
incorporate Becta's Self Review Framework and the structure of
the programmes have been adjusted so that they now take place
over two days. The programmes give the opportunity to:
- Complete school reviews using online and collaborative
learning
- Attend a facilitated two-day residential course which
will enable you to draw up a development plan for your
school
- Visit a school where leadership of ICT has been
identified as a strength
- Access ongoing support through the SLICT online
community and the Learning Gateway

The programme continues to be subsidised for another year
costing £350 for the new primary two day residential course
(free to headteachers of small schools). Some of the key
benefits for you and the school highlighted in the brochure
are:
- The opportunity to network and develop strategies
appropriate to your school
- Increased confidence in your professional judgement to
lead and embed ICT in learning and teaching
- The opportunity to gain a clear, whole-school vision for
learning with ICT
- Provision of tools to review, benchmark and consider the
issues of implementing ICT
- Increased levels of expertise in your school community

The secondary SLICT programme and the teamSLICT programme have
been combined to enable secondary head teachers to attend with
their teams. If you are one of the secondary head teachers who
have already attended the programme then the remaining members
of the team may attend independently. The cost for the new
secondary SLICT programme will be £1500 per team of three or
four. Some of the key benefits for you and the school
highlighted in the brochure are:
- The opportunity to consider the potential of ICT for
improved learning and teaching
- Increased confidence in your professional judgement to
lead and embed ICT in learning and teaching
- Time for you to collaborate with colleagues, share ideas
and develop strategies to support your school
- The opportunity to build a team culture to increase
levels of expertise in your school community
- Provision of tools to review, benchmark and consider the
issues of implementing ICT

that all South Gloucestershire head teachers will take
advantage of this excellent professional development
opportunity while it is available.
|
|
If you are considering
achieving the ICT mark attending this course will be greatly
beneficial and we are aware that there are many schools who
would be able to attain this quality mark for the work they
already put in to the strategic development of ICT across
their schools.
