Using Interactive Whiteboards in Geography

Rick Cope Head of Geography, Backwell School, North Somerset

Rick will look at some of the opportunities offered by the Interactive Whiteboard for the delivery of engaging starters, presentations, interactive activities, animation and linked Internet materials in Geography teaching. Techniques will include both commercial and home-produced interactive PowerPoint presentations, drag-and-drop tasks, cover-andreveal approaches and digital video attachments. We will also look at the opportunities offered by the whiteboard for modelling and graphical skill development through maps and graph work. Although the focus will be geographical the techniques are totally transferable to any subject area.
