South Gloucestershire Local Authority’s
Specialised Diploma application provides a coherent approach to
providing access to diplomas for learners across the authority
by 2008, in response to strategic need.
There is integrated planning across and
between the consortia to implement the 14-19 learner entitlement
which incorporates diploma development.
The application therefore incorporates two
consortia: The Kingswood Partnership for the south and east of
the authority and the Concorde Partnership representing the
north and west of the authority.
The two consortia are being fully supported
by the Local Authority, the Learning and Skills Council West Of
England (LSC) and Connexions West of England Post Area Wide
Inspection Action Plan Executive Group.
This application represents a significant
step forward in the implementation of the South Gloucestershire
14-19 strategy which is premised on the development of 14-19
partnerships to meet the needs of young people, particularly
through locally delivered vocational/applied learning provision.
Targets sit within South Gloucestershire’s Children and Young
People’s Plan.
Following Local Authority guidance, other
clusters have decided not to proceed with a submission this
year. Thornbury schools are integrated into the Concorde
Partnership bid. Diploma provision covering the whole of South
Gloucestershire is planned for 2009 onwards. |
